Inflammation

Worldwide, chronic inflammatory diseases have increased considerably in recent years. This is a frightening trend, as it has been shown that there are close links between chronic inflammation and diseases such as diabetes, heart attack, stroke or cancer.

Nutrition plays a key role in this. Our body has a sophisticated immune system that helps it fend off attackers. It is able to fight pathogens and produce anti-inflammatory compounds. In order to support the body, however, we also need to provide it with the right foods and/or ingredients. With the right nutrition, we can help it to get and stay healthy. Conversely, the wrong nutrition can make us sick or at least put additional strain on us.

General dietary recommendations and rules, such as paying attention to weight, eating less fat and sweets, are usually not enough. Healthy eating and lifestyles also include thinking about and rethinking overconsumption and the composition and quality of food. Highly processed foods with plenty of additives, isolated carbohydrates and sugars, low-quality oils and little to no vitamins and minerals – fuel inflammatory processes in the body.

Natural foods with their colorful mix of vitamins, minerals, secondary plant substances and especially omega-3 fatty acids offer the best protection against inflammation. These can provide excellent help in keeping the body balanced and preventing chronic inflammation.

Often it is small things that alleviate an inflammation or prevent an outbreak at all!

What tips do you have to keep inflammation at bay? We’re looking forward to your comments!

Recently we were asked: “Can I get rid of my recurring body inflammation with a Metabolic Balance nutrition plan?”

Many satisfied clients would answer this question with a clear “Yes!”

We take a close look at your blood before making the nutrition plans and adjust all foods to the results.

The quote, “Let food be thy medicine” is one that we firmly believe at Metabolic Balance. The foods you put in your body every day is one of the most important things that impacts your well-being. World Asthma Day

Did you know that today is World Asthma Day?

World Asthma Day (WAD) takes place each year on the first Tuesday in May. It was started by the Global Initiative for Asthma in 1998 to raise awareness and educate people about asthma.

Asthma is a chronic condition that affects the lungs and can vary in severity. In patients with asthma, their lungs and airways are inflamed making it difficult to move air in and out of the lungs.

During this global pandemic, those with asthma are at an even greater risk. For those with asthma it is important to eat a diet that helps minimize or reduce inflammation in the body. An optimized diet (i.e. Metabolic Balance!) full of whole foods, complete proteins, and free of artificial ingredients can do just that. For those of us without asthma let us make sure we offer support and care to those with this condition.

Did You Know that Poor Nutrition Can Promote Inflammation?

Poor nutrition is a major cause of chronic inflammation, stated in numerous recent studies. In particular, it’s increasingly apparent that many conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and rheumatism are more closely related to inflammation than it was discussed only a few years ago. A major cause of inflammatory processes in the body is a poor diet or malnutrition. A diet rich in ‘bad’ fats such as saturated fats and trans fats and high in simple sugars (basically the average western diet) is increasingly shown to promote chronic inflammation. This is in direct contrast to fiber, antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables, healthy fats in fish and nuts plus beneficial oils, such as olive oil, which all have a natural anti-inflammatory effect. These recommendations correlate with Metabolic Balance and why reducing inflammation is one of the key benefits experienced by many of our clients.
