Vitamin D

Also known as the “sunshine vitamin”, Vitamin D is one of the many important vitamins and minerals that the human body needs. This fat soluble vitamin is produced in the skin when exposed to sunlight, which is the reason why we often say that you can get your vitamin D outside! Vitamin D can also be found in small amounts in foods including salmon, egg yolks, and fortified foods such as milk. In the body, this vitamin is vital for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus and for immune system function. So the next time the sun is shining, go outside and enjoy the sunshine, knowing you are doing something good for your body!
